Overview

The NEAT scheme of delegation provides for the following membership of the local governing committee, which can have between 7 and 13 members in total.
 
Each non-religious school to have a local governing committee of:
  • at least two parent governors (elected by parents of pupils at the school)
  • at least one staff governor (elected by staff of the school)
  • headteacher governor (ex-officio)
  • up to nine governors approved by the trust board
  • up to three governors co-opted by the local governing committee.
Central Walker Church of England Primary School to have a local governing committee of:
  • at least two parent governors (elected by parents of pupils at the school)
  • at least one staff governor (elected by staff of the school)
  • headteacher governor (ex-officio)
  • up to 9 foundation local governors including:
    • one nomination from the Parochial Church Council of Christ Church, Walker
    • one nomination from the Parochial Church Council of St Anthony’s of Egypt
    • four nominations being approved by the Newcastle Diocesan Education Board
    • the Principal Officiating Minister of the Parish of Christ Church, Walker (ex-officio)
  • up to three governors co-opted by the local governing committee.
St Hild's Church of England School has interim governance arrangements, which are set out in its bespoke Scheme of Delegation.
 
The term of office of all new governors appointed from November 2018 is four years, except:
  • co-opted governors where the term of office is one year
  • ex-officio appointments which are based on the person holding a particular office and continue as long as the person remains in post.
