Keeping children amused and active over half-term holidays can be a challenge, especially when some fun activities aren’t possible due to Covid-19 restrictions. We’re super pleased that Company of Others, a charity in the North East that tackles inequality through dance, has secured funding from Well Newcastle Gateshead for all our 3-7 year olds to receive a free dance-based activity for them to enjoy with their grown-ups.
The packs have been made by professional dancers for children to take home. The pack is part game, part exercise: Dance in an Envelope. It is a non-digital dance game for children aged 3-7 and their grown ups. Company of Others has secured funding from Well Newcastle Gateshead to supply these to Newcastle East End schools for pupils to enjoy during lockdown or times when leaving their home is more difficult. It is printed on large cards with illustrations and simple words, which have been beautifully designed by dancer Jem Clancy and printed by Bang On Print and Design Ltd.
The game has been designed to help with language and phonics; to keep children physically active and creative during a turbulent time; and as an activity to encourage children and their grown ups to connect and play together through fun movement.
We’re delighted with this gift and look forward to seeing our families share their efforts.
