Annual Report and Accounts
NEAT’s financial year runs from 1 September-31 August. Our annual report and accounts for the latest financial year are published below. The accounts are consolidated for the trust to include the financial performance of our subsidiary company, NEAT Active Ltd.
You can also view the information we publish on the Companies House website which includes a company overview, filing history and key people.
Apprenticeship Reporting
Apprenticeship publication legislation requires public sector employers with 250 or more staff to publish information every year about their performance against the public sector apprenticeship target. The target for each employer is to employ an average of at least 2.3% of their employees as new apprentice starts over the period 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2021.
Academy trust were required to publish this information for the first time in 2019 for starts between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019. Our performance against the target within NEAT was:
- Number of employees whose employment began in the above period: 86
- Number of new apprentices in the above period (new hires and existing employees who started an apprenticeship): 1
- Number of employees who were working on 31 March 2019: 373
- Number of apprentices who were working on 31 March 2019: 1
- Percentage of new apprentices as a proportion of all new employees in the above period: 1.16%
- Percentage of employees that were apprentices on 31 March 2019: 0.27%
We also submit an annual Apprenticeship Activity Return to the Department for Education to show our progress, describe factors that have impacted on our ability to meet the target, the challenges we have faced and how we are planning to meet the target. Our main challenge is the lack of approved apprenticeship standards for job roles in schools/academies.
Executive Pay
We are required to publish the number of employees whose benefits (excluding employer pension costs) exceeded £100,000 in the previous financial year: the information for 2021-22 can be found in the PDF document below.
Facility Time Publication
Facility time publication legislation requires public sector employers with more than 49 full-time equivalent employees to publish information every year about their usage and spend on trade union facility time.
Facility time is the provision of paid or unpaid time off from an employee’s normal role to undertake trade union duties and activities as a trade union representative. There is a statutory entitlement to reasonable paid time off for undertaking union duties (but not activities).
The publication of facility time data helps promote transparency and public scrutiny of this information.
NEAT meets its statutory obligations to provide facility time to trade union representatives by pooling resources with other schools and academies to cover the time spent by trade union representatives across a number of different employers.
We therefore publish facility time information as the total cost of our contribution to pooled facility time expressed as a percentage of our total pay bill for the relevant period:
Apr 2021 – Mar 2022: we spent 0.08% of our total pay bill on facility time
We also publish this information on the Cabinet Office’s facility time online reporting service.
Total Payroll: £17,488,996.86
Trade Union FT: £13,036.71
TUFT as %: 0.075%
Gender Pay Gap Reporting
Gender pay reporting legislation requires employers with 250 or more employees to publish statutory calculations every year showing how large the pay gap is between their male and female employees.
Our latest gender pay gap report is below with workforce data based on the ‘snapshot’ date of 31 March 2022.
