Local Consultation

Local consultation on changing the age range of an open academy - West Walker Primary School

The trust has consulted on a proposal to change the age range of the above school from 3-11 years to 2-11 years from 1 September 2018 to extend the existing nursery provision to two year-olds who qualify for the government's targeted free childcare offer.

The consultation closed at 12 noon on Wednesday 16 May 2018.

The Trust's Board of Directors considered the outcome of the local consultation at its meeting on Thursday 24 May and decided, having taken consultation responses into account, to apply to the Regional Schools Commissioner at the Department for Education to change the school's age range to 2-11 years from 1 September 2018.

On 12 July 2018 the Regional Schools Commissioner confirmed that West Walker's age range can be changed to 2-11 years from 1 September 2018.  West Walker are now able to extend their provision to include 2 year olds, which is in line with the other three primary schools within NEAT.
