Overview

The NEAT scheme of delegation provides for the following membership of the local governing body.
 
Each non-religious school to have a local governing body of:
  • at least two parent governors (elected by parents of pupils at the school)
  • at least one staff governor (elected by staff of the school)
  • headteacher governor (ex-officio)
  • up to nine governors approved by the trust board
  • up to three governors co-opted by the local governing body.
Central Walker Church of England Primary School to have a local governing body of:
  • at least two parent governors (elected by parents of pupils at the school)
  • at least one staff governor (elected by staff of the school)
  • headteacher governor (ex-officio)
  • seven foundation local governors as follows:
    • one nomination from the Parochial Church Council of Christ Church, Walker
    • one nomination from the Parochial Church Council of St Anthony’s of Egypt
    • four nominations being approved by the Newcastle Diocesan Education Board
  • the Principal Officiating Minister of the Parish of Christ Church, Walker (ex-officio).
The terms of office of all governors are three years, except:
  • co-opted governors where the term of office is one year
  • ex-officio appointments which are based on the person holding a particular office and continue as long as the person remains in post.
