NEAT Academy Trust is proud to be featured in the latest National Careers Week publication, with our Green Careers Week highlighted on pages 14 to 17.

The feature reflects joined-up work across the Trust, not a single event.  Green Careers Week sits within NEAT’s wider careers and personal development approach, with planning, teaching, and follow-up built in before and after the week itself.

A key part of the week was the Green Careers Safari, which saw Year 9 pupils from Benfield School visit local green energy employers and the Newcastle College Energy Academy.
Pupils experienced real workplaces, spoke directly to professionals, and saw how different routes can lead into green careers.

The Safari was made possible through the backing of David Coe and the North East Combined Authority, alongside the commitment of local organisations who opened their doors to our learners.  Their support ensured pupils could access high-quality, meaningful experiences rooted in the North East.

This work is just as important for staff. Green Careers Week helps teachers and support staff strengthen their understanding of local opportunities and how curriculum learning connects to careers.  It supports clearer conversations in classrooms about why learning matters and how subjects link to future pathways.

By working with local employers and colleges, we are able to raise aspirations in a grounded way.  Learners see what is possible close to home.  Employers see the potential within NEAT schools.

We are grateful to National Careers Week for featuring our work and helping share this story more widely.  Thank you also to David Coe at the North East Combined Authority, and to our partners at Siemens Energy, Smulders, Baker Hughes, and Newcastle College Energy Academy for supporting NEAT and our learners.
