NEAT Academy Trust has announced a change in leadership at Board level.

Dr Anne McNall has finished her term as Chair of NEAT’s Board after nine years of service. Anne has played a key role in shaping the Trust from its early days to where it stands now.

During her time, the Trust has grown from five schools to eight. She has supported leaders, staff, governors, and communities through support, scrutiny and challenge.

Anne said:
“It has been a privilege to be part of the growth of NEAT and to work alongside such dedicated people. I am proud of what we have achieved together and the difference made to children and families.”

We thank Anne for her leadership, commitment, and the care she has shown to our schools and communities. Her contribution leaves a strong foundation for the future.

We are pleased to confirm that Dr Sasha Ban has been appointed as the new Chair of the Board.

Sasha brings strong experience in governance and a clear focus on children and young people. Her approach reflects and aligns with NEAT’s focus on working together to grow potential and improving outcomes for every pupil. Her professional work centres on health and wellbeing.

Sasha said:
“I am privileged to take on this role and look forward to working with colleagues across the Trust. As Chair of Governors at Whickham School, I have worked alongside NEAT over the past two years. That gave me a clear understanding of the Trust. I now join in a personal capacity because I believe in our mission and the difference our schools make every day. Anne leaves big shoes to fill, and I want to thank her for the legacy she has built across the Trust.”

Sasha is focused on supporting the next phase of Trust development, with a clear emphasis on outcomes for pupils and the experience of staff and communities.

Steve Haigh, CEO, said:
“This is an exciting point in the Trust’s development. We thank Anne for her leadership and welcome Sasha as we continue to strengthen our work across all schools.”

Sasha will work closely with the Board, Local Governing Committees, and senior leaders to guide the next stage of the Trust’s journey.

This marks the next stage in the Trust’s development, with a continued focus on improving outcomes for children and young people across all schools.
