This week, NEAT Academy Trust had the honor of attending the Army Engagement event – ‘Meet Your Army’ – at St James Park on September 13th. Two members from the trust attended the event: Debi Bailey (Trust CEO) and Helen Taylor (Careers Strategic Lead). This event was organised by the army engagement group who aim to foster a greater understanding of the armed forces and the career opportunities that are on offer for young people.

The event provided a really unique insight into some of the exciting career opportunities on offer in the British Army including more than 200 roles behind the scenes supporting combat roles with more than 70% of staff working in these vital capacities. It was really great to see their dedication to inclusivity and equal opportunities.

It was great to learn more about some of the exciting apprenticeship opportunities that the army provides in areas like telecommunications, engineering and cybersecurity and the way in which they offer a range of educational and development pathways for individuals across different stages of their lives.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Army Engagement team for the invitation to the event which left everyone from NEAT feeling inspired and with a greater understanding of the diverse roles on offer for our young people.
