NEAT Careers Week Mon 17th March to Fri 21st March
Across NEAT Academy Trust, we are launching NEAT Careers Week, dedicated to raising aspirations and broadening horizons. This year’s theme, Hidden Careers, explores the many vital jobs that often go unnoticed.
When people think about working in the NHS, they often picture doctors and nurses—but what about paramedics, biomedical scientists, IT specialists, and estates managers? In education, teachers are at the heart of schools, but they are supported by business managers, IT technicians, counsellors, and site supervisors. The same applies to industries like construction, retail, and finance—each has a diverse range of roles that power the sector.
Our aim this week is to help pupils discover careers they may never have considered and show them the different pathways that can lead to rewarding futures.
NEAT Careers Fair – Thursday 20th March
A key event of the week is the NEAT Careers Fair, taking place at Benfield School. Pupils from Year 5 across all our primary schools, as well as a group from St Hild’s, will attend, along with all Benfield students. They will have the chance to meet representatives from 30 organisations, covering a wide range of industries. This event will give pupils direct insight into different career pathways and opportunities.
Careers Leads in Every NEAT School
Each of our schools has a dedicated Careers Lead, responsible for bringing careers education to life within their school community. Careers Leads play a vital role in implementing our Cradle to Careers strategy—ensuring every pupil receives meaningful careers guidance, no matter their age or background.
Activities Across Our Schools
Our schools are embedding careers education throughout the week with:
- Assemblies highlighting surprising career paths.
- Workshops showcasing industry insights.
- Employer visits to inspire pupils with real-life experiences.
- Pre- and post-teach activities to reinforce learning before and after events.
These activities are designed to help pupils understand that career planning isn’t just about a single choice—it’s about discovering what excites and motivates them, and realising the range of possibilities available.
Commitment from NEAT Leadership
At NEAT Academy Trust, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils have access to high-quality careers education that helps them make informed choices about their futures. Our Senior Leadership Teams across the trust actively support this, recognising the importance of careers guidance in shaping pupils’ aspirations and achievements.
