Welcome to NEAT Goes Green
From Monday 3 November to Friday 7 November 2025, all schools across NEAT Academy Trust will take part in our first-ever Green Careers Week. This Trust-wide event celebrates sustainability and shines a light on the growing world of green careers and the opportunities within our region.
Pupils from Nursery to Year 11 will take part in assemblies, lessons, and employer-led activities designed to connect classroom learning with real jobs in the green economy. Through workshops, guest speakers, and visits, pupils will explore the skills and pathways needed for the future and learn how they can play their part in shaping a more sustainable world.
Every pupil, every school, and every member of staff will be involved as we work together to inspire curiosity, responsibility, and ambition through our shared vision of One Trust: Working with Partners to Grow Potential.
Schools involved
All eight NEAT schools, including our primaries in Walker, Walkergate, Wallsend, and North Shields, and our secondary schools Benfield and St Hild’s.

What pupils will experience
Throughout the week, pupils will:
– Take part in assemblies and form-time sessions focused on sustainability and green jobs.
– Explore curriculum links across Science, Geography, DT, Computing, and PSHE.
– Hear from local employers working in renewable energy, construction, and technology.
– Access resources such as the Green Buzz Quiz and MyPath to learn more about future pathways.
– Experience targeted employer engagement through small-group workshops, visits, and the Green Careers Safari for selected Year 9 pupils.
This structure ensures that every pupil across NEAT experiences meaningful learning linked to sustainability, careers, and the world of work.
Take the Green Buzz Quiz
The Green Buzz Quiz is a fun and interactive way for pupils, parents, and carers to explore personality strengths and discover how they link to careers in the green economy. Developed by National Careers Week, the quiz helps young people identify their natural preferences and match them to real-world roles that support a more sustainable future.

Why not complete the quiz together at home and start a conversation about green jobs, strengths, and future career ideas?
Parent and carer feedback
If you have the time, we would love to hear what you thought of NEAT Green Careers week.

Why this matters
– Green careers are growing across the North East and nationally
– Pupils gain insight into real workplaces and pathways, including apprenticeships and college routes
– The week supports Careers Education and Personal Development across the Trust, including sustainability, character, and community contribution
NEAT and Sustainability
At NEAT Academy Trust, sustainability is part of what we do every day. It runs through our projects, our taught curriculum, and our wider Personal Development offer. We want our pupils to see sustainability not just as a concept but as something real and relevant to their lives, their communities, and their futures.
Across our schools, sustainability is brought to life through:
Capital projects
Capital projects such as the decarbonisation programme at Benfield School delivered by Equans, improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
Renewable energy investment
Renewable energy investment including the installation of solar panels at St Hild’s School in Hartlepool, providing clean energy to power teaching spaces.
Personal Development and Careers Education
Personal Development and Careers Education, where pupils explore sustainability, green careers, and their role in protecting the environment through curriculum links, assemblies, and enrichment activities.
Everyday school life
Everyday school life, where pupils and staff take part in activities that promote environmental responsibility, recycling, and community involvement.
Through these actions, NEAT Academy Trust is ensuring that sustainability is not a statement of intent but a visible and measurable part of our schools’ culture and curriculum.
Work with us to inspire future careers
We welcome support from organisations across all sectors for our careers-related events. Opportunities to get involved include delivering an assembly, running a workshop, hosting a short virtual talk, or welcoming a small group of pupils for a workplace visit.
