NEAT Goes Green

Date: Monday 3 November – Friday 7 November 2025

Welcome to NEAT Goes Green

From Monday 3 November to Friday 7 November 2025, all schools across NEAT Academy Trust will take part in our first-ever NEAT Green Careers Week. This week-long celebration will help pupils discover how their learning links to the growing world of green jobs, sustainability, and environmental responsibility. Through assemblies, lessons, workshops, and visits with local employers, pupils will explore the skills needed for the future and learn how they can play their part in shaping a more sustainable world.

Find out what’s happening across our schools and how you can get involved below.

About NEAT Green Careers Week

NEAT Academy Trust is running a whole-Trust week that shines a light on green careers, sustainability, and the opportunities on our doorstep. Pupils from Nursery to Year 11 will experience assemblies, lessons, employer talks, and targeted activities that link learning to real jobs in the green economy. Every NEAT School, every pupil and member of staff is involved in NEAT Green Career Week

Schools involved

All eight NEAT schools, including our primaries in Walker, Walkergate, Wallsend, and North Shields, and our secondary schools Benfield and St Hild’s.

Take the Green Buzz Quiz

The Green Buzz Quiz is a fun and interactive way for pupils, parents, and carers to explore personality strengths and discover how they link to careers in the green economy. Developed by National Careers Week, the quiz helps young people identify their natural preferences and match them to real-world roles that support a more sustainable future.

Take the quiz here: Green Buzz Quiz

Why not complete the quiz together at home and start a conversation about green jobs, strengths, and future career ideas?

Activities to do at home

– Watch a short video together on renewable energy and ask your child to name three green jobs they heard about

– Try a “reduce, reuse, recycle” challenge for one week and track the impact

– Talk about jobs in your family and how they are changing to be more sustainable

NEAT and Sustainability

At NEAT Academy Trust, sustainability is part of what we do every day. It runs through our projects, our taught curriculum, and our wider Personal Development offer. We want our pupils to see sustainability not just as a concept but as something real and relevant to their lives, their communities, and their futures.

Across our schools, sustainability is brought to life through:

– Capital projects such as the decarbonisation programme at Benfield School delivered by Equans, improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

– Renewable energy investment including the installation of solar panels at St Hild’s School in Hartlepool, providing clean energy to power teaching spaces.

– Personal Development and Careers Education, where pupils explore sustainability, green careers, and their role in protecting the environment through curriculum links, assemblies, and enrichment activities.

– Everyday school life, where pupils and staff take part in activities that promote environmental responsibility, recycling, and community involvement.

Through these actions, NEAT Academy Trust is ensuring that sustainability is not a statement of intent but a visible and measurable part of our schools’ culture and curriculum.

How employers have supported NEAT in making this week possible

We welcome support from organisations in green energy, construction, utilities, and related supply chains. Offers include an assembly, a workshop, a short virtual talk, or hosting a small group visit.
