NEAT Academy Trust is proud to mark Safer Internet Day 2026, taking place on Tuesday, 10 February 2026. This annual event is the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety. This year’s theme is “Smart tech, safe choices – exploring the safe and responsible use of AI”. We join the nationwide campaign to promote the safe, positive use of technology among children and young people.
Promoting Safe and Responsible Use of AI
With AI now embedded in many apps and tools, children and young people frequently encounter it in their daily lives. Safer Internet Day 2026 highlights the need for them to have the skills and confidence to make safe choices when using smart technology. The campaign explores the impact of AI on our lives, celebrates how AI can be used for good, and provides guidance to help everyone use AI safely and responsibly. By focusing on “smart tech, safe choices,” we aim to empower young people to harness technology in positive ways while staying alert to potential risks.
A Nationwide Community Effort
As part of this national event, schools, families, and organisations across the UK are coming together to champion a safer digital world for young people. From classrooms to living rooms, Safer Internet Day sparks collaborative activities and conversations that make online safety a shared responsibility. NEAT Academy Trust is joining this effort alongside thousands of others to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. It’s inspiring to see our community unite in helping young people develop the knowledge to navigate the online world safely.
Conversations on Digital Wellbeing
Safer Internet Day is about starting conversations, not finishing them. We encourage our students, staff and families to use this day as a springboard for regular, open discussions about digital wellbeing and safe online behaviour. Talking openly about children’s online experiences, questions, and worries is a great way to build healthy habits and confidence. By working together – at school and at home – we can help young people enjoy the benefits of technology while staying safe, supported, and savvy about their choices online.
