As part of NEAT Volunteer Week, we’re highlighting the range of ways adults can get involved in volunteering across our schools and Trust. Whether you’re a parent, carer, former pupil, or someone simply wanting to give a bit of time to make a difference – there’s a place for you in our schools.
There are many reasons people choose to volunteer in schools. For some, it’s about supporting their child’s learning or giving something back to their local community. For others, it’s a step towards understanding how schools work, developing their own skills, gaining valuable experience, or contributing to the education of future citizens. Whatever the motivation, volunteering in schools has real social value – and we believe it should be open to everyone.
Volunteers support our pupils, teachers and school teams in all sorts of ways – from reading with younger children to sharing career stories with older students. It helps build connection, confidence, and that sense of belonging we want every child to feel.
Here are just some of the ways adults can get involved:
– Listening to children read
– Supporting phonics or maths groups
– Helping with homework clubs
– Running lunchtime or after-school clubs
– Supporting school trips and events
– Delivering a careers talk
– Helping with mock interviews
– Supporting school fundraising activities
– Helping with community events
– Gardening or site projects
– Joining the PTA
– Becoming a School Governor
– Becoming a Director
All volunteering in NEAT schools is subject to the appropriate safeguarding procedures, and volunteers are supported and welcomed into our school communities.
If you’re interested in volunteering in one of our schools, or just want to find out more, we’d love to hear from you.
